Requirements

  • 1 year of related experience, or equivalent, a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; and at least one Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) system.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to work with enthusiasm in an environment with constantly changing priorities.
  • Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels of experience and education and from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact for all patients visiting the practice.
  • Answer, screen, and direct calls on a multi-line phone system and forward information to appropriate parties.
  • Meet and greet patients and check them into the computer system.
  • Check-in/out patients.
  • Greet patients and direct or escort them to the appropriate area.
  • Input patient information into the Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) computer system for billing.
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts.
  • Ensure patients complete all necessary medical forms.
  • Collect forms of payment.
  • Interact with patients in person and over the phone in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Answer, screen, and direct calls on a multi-line system.
  • Contact potential new patients to help schedule initial appointments.
  • Compose typed routine correspondence as required.
  • Perform general clerical duties (i.e., filing, photocopying, faxing, mailing).
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential issues.
  • Contact outside service providers and other medical offices for records.
  • Work with insurance companies to obtain authorizations and verify insurances.
  • Scan patient documents and attach them to patient files.
  • Write patient referrals.
  • Prepare medical records for transfer patients.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
