The Medical Receptionist is responsible for maintaining the front desk and reception area, ensuring it is neat and organized with necessary supplies. This role involves greeting visitors, including patients with disabilities and their families, with a positive and helpful attitude, providing excellent customer service. The receptionist will manage a busy waiting room, ensuring patients are checked in, assisting with patient flow, and addressing or escalating concerns. For PHC assignments, this role includes collecting patient documentation for nursing review and updating registration information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Medical Receptionist will also conduct insurance eligibility checks, collect copayments, schedule appointments, and follow up with patients regarding appointments. Additionally, they will assist the Practice Administrator with daily schedules to maximize productivity, coordinate patient transportation, and participate in quality improvement activities. This role requires monitoring and responding to emails, and strict adherence to Federal, State, Local, and HIPAA regulations. For Article 16 Clinic assignments, the Medical Receptionist will also answer and screen multi-line telephone calls, receive and distribute mail, and register new patients in the EMR.
