Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required.
  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience with specific EHR software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the United States.
  • Customer service training or experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments or fees as required.
  • Maintain and update patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff.
  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to manage patient flow and appointment availability.
  • Prepare and organize patient paperwork and documentation for healthcare providers.
  • Assist with billing and insurance claim processes as needed.
  • Manage waiting area to ensure a comfortable and organized environment for patients.
