About The Position

The Medical Radiation Technologist is a valued member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing professional diagnostic imaging services and expertise to support high-quality, patient-centred care. Working collaboratively with physicians, staff, patients, and external partners, the Medical Radiation Technologist delivers safe, accurate, and compassionate care while ensuring exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Requirements

• Knowledge of radiation, Health and Safety Regulations
• Must be flexible and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teams: demonstrating exceptional teamwork and inter-professional collaboration skills
• Reliability, self-motivated and ability to work independently with limited supervision: demonstrates individual leadership skills
• Ability to train and orientate other health care professions and students

• Ability to keep current with changes in technology and aid in implementation of accepted changes
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and previous experience in CT (may include clinical placement)
• Safety awareness, including radiation safety

• Diploma or Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences, Radiography from an accredited educational institution
• CMRITO mandatory, MRT (R)
• Completion of the Intravenous Therapy (IV) – Online Training course and the Central Venous Access Devices – Online Training course through Southlake’s On-line Learning System (SOLs), or plans to complete
• Maintains current CPR certification
• Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.
• Must be able to perform all necessary bona fide duties for the position, as outlined in the position guide.
• Must review and be capable of performing duties as outlined in the Job Demands Analysis for the position as a condition of offer.
• Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient-focused care and high-quality diagnostic imaging services in Computed Tomography (CT) and Radiography to support patient diagnosis and treatment at Southlake Health and affiliated sites, including, but not limited to, the Georgina Health Centre.
• Applies technical expertise and clinical judgment to evaluate image quality, manipulate digital images for interpretation and archival, and ensure the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation in compliance with the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (HARP).
• Continually assesses patients throughout procedures, monitors for potential complications or contrast reactions, and initiates appropriate interventions when required.
• Operates and troubleshoots medical imaging and ancillary equipment to ensure safe and effective performance.
• Assists Radiologists during procedures.
• Performs cross-functional duties and other responsibilities as assigned.
