About The Position

This is a Talent Pool posting for all Medical Radiation Technologist vacancies at the Cath Lab, Toronto General Hospital. The Cardiovascular Investigations Unit (Cath Lab) is a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization facility in the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) at the Toronto General Hospital. The Cath Lab uses innovative equipment and digital technology serving patients on a regional, national, and international level performing 7,000 procedures a year. The Cath Lab is home to world-renowned clinicians who use minimally invasive techniques and innovative procedures to treat a wide range of patients with complex heart disease. Procedures performed in the Cath Lab include: Coronary Angiogram and Angioplasty Complex Adult Congenital Interventions Structural Heart (e.g. percutaneous valve replacement, ASD Closure, MitraClip) Complex, High-Risk and Indicated PCI with or without Mechanical Circulatory support Cardiac Biopsy Electrophysiology studies, 3D Mapping, and Ablations Pacemaker and Defibrillator implantation The Cath Lab is an exciting, dynamic work environment where you can develop your passion for cardiac care. Requirements

  • Current Registration as a Medical Radiation Technologist - Radiography with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO), liability insurance through Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences
  • Completion of accredited Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences from an accredited program
  • Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Minimum two (2) years of related work experience
  • Demonstrated evidence of on going education
  • Excellent interpersonal and decision making, organizational and time management skills
  • Encompasses the engagement and spirit of teamwork
  • Must be able to respond to on-call notifications (arrive at the hospital) within 45 minutes maximum
  • Must be able to wear lead apron

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience an asset

Responsibilities

  • Be primarily responsible for radiation safety of multidisciplinary staff and patients, equipment management and troubleshooting, intra procedural monitoring and documentation, assisting interventional cardiologists and the clinical care team with cardiac medical procedures in a sterile environment, and monitor patient hemodynamics during procedures.
  • The MRT practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.
  • MRT staff may also support research projects and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical care and operations.
  • Work with a diverse clinical care team including: Interventional Cardiologists, Registered Nurses, Medical Fellows, Echo Technicians, and Anesthesia to deliver high-quality and patient-centered care.
  • The MRT reports to the Nurse Manager of the Cath Lab.
  • As an MRT in the Cath Lab, you will maintain a positive and calming working relationship with team members, promote a healthy work environment and encourage collaboration for excellence in patient care.
