About The Position

This role provides operational and instructional leadership for healthcare instructional laboratories and programs. The position is responsible for managing laboratory resources, overseeing instructors, developing externship and employer partnerships, supporting student success, and delivering instruction. The role also involves contributing to program quality and strategic workforce initiatives, researching healthcare trends, and developing new training programs. Additionally, the position requires administrative responsibilities and occasional travel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
Three years of experience.
Current healthcare credential or certification relevant to the instructional area required.
Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with instructors, students, and external partners.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and administrative systems.
Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, cleaning, and repair coordination of specialized healthcare instructional equipment and task trainers to ensure operational readiness and compliance with instructional standards.
Coordinate service and repair requests for clinical training equipment, including EKG machines and other laboratory devices, working with vendors and internal departments as needed.
Lift, transport, and set up instructional materials, medical equipment, and supply boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
Bend, reach, stand for extended periods, and demonstrate clinical and laboratory procedures for instructional purposes.

Responsibilities

Provide operational leadership for healthcare instructional laboratories, ensuring facilities, equipment, supplies, and learning environments are safe, functional, adequately resourced, and prepared to support high-quality instruction.
Develop and maintain systems for inventory management, supply forecasting, purchasing, equipment utilization, and replacement planning.
Evaluate current and anticipate future laboratory and instructional resource needs based on enrollment, program growth, curriculum changes, and emerging healthcare industry practices, and make recommendations regarding equipment purchases, upgrades, replacement, and resource allocation.
Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, cleaning, and repair of specialized healthcare training equipment, including EKG machines, simulation equipment, task trainers, and other clinical training devices.
Diagnose routine equipment issues, determine when internal or specialized support is required, and coordinate service requests, vendor communications, warranties, repairs, and replacement of specialized instructional equipment.
Establish and maintain equipment and maintenance records to support operational continuity and responsible resource management.
Develop and implement standardized procedures for laboratory setup, equipment use, cleaning, storage, and maintenance.
Develop and maintain systems for managing student and instructor uniforms and other program-specific resources.
Provide operational and instructional leadership to healthcare program instructors to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of standardized programs.
Lead pre-course planning meetings with instructional teams to establish expectations, review course schedules, identify potential challenges, and ensure instructor readiness.
Serve as a subject matter resource and consultant to instructors regarding clinical content, instructional materials, laboratory activities, and curriculum implementation.
Develop, maintain, and periodically evaluate course outlines and instructional documentation to ensure alignment with certification requirements, industry standards, and program objectives.
Review course and instructor evaluations to identify trends, instructional challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and implement recommendations for improving instructional quality and student outcomes based on evaluation data and program performance.
Develop and maintain a qualified pool of healthcare professionals available for current and future instructional needs.
Identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with qualified healthcare subject matter experts, evaluating prospective clinical instructors based on their clinical expertise, instructional experience, professional credentials, and ability to effectively teach adult learners.
Onboard new clinical instructors and ensure readiness prior to instructional assignments.
Provide oversight for clinical externship operations across assigned healthcare programs, serving as a primary university contact for externship placement coordinators and proactively addressing placement challenges.
Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations and clinical partners to support student placement and workforce development objectives, while identifying opportunities to expand the network of clinical and employer partners to support program growth and student employment outcomes.
Assess clinical partner capacity and program needs to identify appropriate externship opportunities and coordinate placement timelines, onboarding requirements, start dates, and expectations with clinical partners.
Establish and maintain processes for matching students with clinical sites based on student interests, program requirements, partner capacity, and workforce needs.
Resolve externship issues involving student attendance, professionalism, performance, or site concerns while balancing student needs with partner expectations.
Monitor the quality and effectiveness of externship placements and identify opportunities to strengthen clinical partnerships.
Gather feedback from healthcare partners regarding student preparation, performance, and workforce readiness and incorporate findings into program improvement efforts.
Provide comprehensive student support for students enrolled in CCMA, EKG, Phlebotomy, and related healthcare programs.
Serve as a primary resource for students regarding academic progress, clinical preparation, certification requirements, and program expectations.
Establish regular office hours and proactive student outreach practices to support persistence and completion.
Monitor student progress within self-paced learning management systems and identify students who may be at risk of falling behind.
Address complex student concerns involving attendance, academic performance, professionalism, and program participation.
Develop and implement appropriate interventions in collaboration with instructors and program staff to address barriers to student success.
Evaluate student progress and program outcomes to identify trends and recommend changes to improve retention, completion, certification success, and workforce readiness.
Serve as a healthcare subject matter expert in the development and expansion of workforce development initiatives.
Research healthcare workforce trends, employer needs, and industry requirements to identify opportunities for new or expanded training programs and develop recommendations for new healthcare courses, credentials, and program offerings based on market demand and organizational priorities.
Participate in the planning, development, implementation, and launch of new healthcare workforce programs.
Establish relationships with healthcare employers, workforce organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and program growth.
Represent Continuing and Professional Studies at workforce development meetings, community and employer events, and other external engagements while contributing healthcare expertise to program marketing, recruitment, information sessions, website content, and other outreach initiatives.
Develop content and communications that effectively articulate program value, career opportunities, and workforce outcomes.
Provide classroom, laboratory, and/or hybrid instruction for up to 200 instructional hours annually in CCMA, EKG, and Phlebotomy programs.
Deliver advanced, hands-on clinical instruction that integrates healthcare theory, technical skills, simulation, and real-world clinical practice.
Demonstrate and evaluate clinical competencies using established program standards and industry expectations.
Adapt instructional approaches to meet the needs of diverse adult learners while maintaining required curriculum and competency standards.
Develop and implement instructional activities, assessments, simulations, and skills-based learning experiences.
Evaluate student competency and provide actionable feedback to support mastery of clinical skills.
Incorporate current healthcare practices, technology, and industry expectations into classroom and laboratory instruction.
Identify instructional gaps and recommend curriculum or laboratory enhancements to strengthen student preparation for certification and employment.
Complete Unanet and other institutional administrative responsibilities in accordance with university requirements.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
