About The Position

The Medical Professional, EMT-Basic is responsible for evaluating donor eligibility through comprehensive medical history reviews, physical assessments, and informed consent discussions, adhering to SOPs, FDA, CLIA, and cGMP regulations. Key duties include reviewing, documenting, and verifying donor information, immunization records, and test results using the NexLynk system. The role involves classifying donors, monitoring for adverse reactions, and providing care within the scope of training and licensure. This professional will consult with a Licensed Physician for abnormal results and eligibility concerns, counsel deferred donors while maintaining confidentiality, and refer donors to health departments when necessary. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, training as a Donor Center Technician I, serving as a QA Backup, mentoring new Medical Professionals, and ensuring compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with team members to foster an efficient, donor-focused environment is also expected.

Requirements

  • Physician, LPN, or RN: Graduate of a recognized healthcare-related program.
  • EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced/Paramedic: Certification or license as an emergency medical technician, if allowable.
  • Ability to work day, evening, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts as needed.
  • Current, valid state license/certification (Physician, RN, LPN, EMT, or equivalent as allowed by state).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • State-issued authorization or license to perform moderate complexity testing.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience in hospital, field care, or plasma center settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate donor eligibility through medical history reviews, physical assessments, and informed consent discussions in accordance with SOPs, FDA, CLIA, and cGMP.
  • Review, document, and verify donor information, immunization records, and test results in the donor management system (NexLynk).
  • Classify donors into appropriate programs and monitor for adverse reactions, providing care as allowed by training and licensure.
  • Consult with the center Licensed Physician regarding abnormal results, donor eligibility concerns, and immunization orders.
  • Counsel deferred donors, ensure confidentiality, and refer donors to health departments when needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as Physician Communication Logs and donor eligibility assessments.
  • Train as a Donor Center Technician I and serve as a QA Backup when needed.
  • Mentor and train new Medical Professionals as a Designated Trainer to support workforce development.
  • Support center compliance with SOPs, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure an efficient, donor-focused environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
