The Baltimore VA Medical Center is seeking a Medical Physicist to join their team. This role involves the design, optimization, and technical evaluation of radiation treatment plans, ensuring precise and accurate radiation dose delivery. The Medical Physicist will also be responsible for radiation protection of patients and staff, and will consult with Radiation Oncologists and provide direction to technical staff. This position requires presence during simulations, treatment setups for SBRT/SRS and IGRT, and all times during Stereotactic Procedures (SRS, SRT, SBRT). The role includes specifying and monitoring calculation methods for MUs or treatment times, performing weekly and final chart reviews, and managing dosimetry data input into treatment planning systems. The Medical Physicist will also advise on the acquisition of radiation-producing equipment and systems, evaluate equipment for utility and performance, and determine the need for specialized dosimetry and treatment planning equipment. Consultation with clinical engineers for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of radiation oncology equipment is also a key responsibility.
