About The Position

Responsible for planning dosimetry and optimizing radiation treatments, ensuring patients receive the correct dose, and monitoring radiation exposure levels of staff and patients. Works directly with radiology residents, fellows, and faculty while participating in a patient's diagnosis and treatment. Assists with Radiation safety program reviews and assists, develops, plans, and research projects with residents and faculty in the areas of radiation safety by optimizing imaging protocols. Develops and presents physics curriculum for residency didactics.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with specialized training in medical physics, physics, or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in diagnostic clinical application in medical physics
  • Board certification by the American Board of Radiology
  • Certified by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board
  • Knowledge of advanced radiology equipment and software
  • Knowledge of equipment certification (acceptance testing, annual testing)
  • Knowledge of shielding calculations, site planning, and technologist QA/QC in Nuclear Medicine
  • Knowledge of adult and pediatric care, equipment, supplies and practices
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local and accreditation laws, regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of medical care management and administration
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and performance improvement principles and methods
  • Knowledge of department and hospital safety practice and procedures
  • Knowledge of patient rights
  • Knowledge of age specific patient care practices
  • Knowledge of infection control policies and practices
  • Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures
  • Proficient in general diagnostic radiology, ER and acute inpatient cases
  • Skill in development of curriculum
  • Skill in effective presentation skills
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications
  • Skill in communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties
  • Skill in efficient, effective and safe use of equipment
