About The Position

The Division of Medical Physics at The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible therapeutic medical physicist to join our group. This position will provide clinical service to the Network Department of Radiation Oncology. The UVM Medical Center is located in Burlington, Vermont, offering a high quality of life with access to outdoor activities and vibrant cultural scenes. The Radiation Oncology department is housed in a LEED certified space and is equipped with modern technology, including linear accelerators, HDR, and a CT simulator. The health system is undergoing a significant technology transition, including the implementation of new Varian linear accelerators, cloud-based Aria and Eclipse systems, and Brianlab ExacTrac. This role primarily supports the UVMMC on-site, with potential for limited travel to partner sites within the UVM Health system. The organization values work-life balance, with opportunities for remote work one day per week on average. The Division of Medical Physics also fulfills an academic mission through research and educational support for various residency programs, with ongoing work to establish medical physics residency programs. There is potential for faculty track positions for candidates with a PhD and a strong academic record, given the campus proximity to the UVM Larner College of Medicine. Physicists are actively involved in resident education, clinical trials, and teaching undergraduates, as well as participating in national and international societies and initiatives.

Requirements

  • MS, DMP, or PhD in medical physics required.
  • Must be fully board certified within 3 years of hire.
  • Board-certification or board-eligibility by the ABR, CCPM, or equivalent is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates holding the PhD and having a track record of academic productivity and interest, may be considered for faculty track.
