About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW: This job is responsible for all clinical aspects of medical physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology.

Requirements

• Minimum Master's Degree in Physics or related field from a CAMPEP-accredited program
• 2 years of experience in Clinical experience as a medical physicist
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• One of the following: Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification - American Board of Radiology (ABR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics Certification - American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Radiation Oncology Physics Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Magnetic Resonance Safety Certification – American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS)
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work independently in a challenging environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

• 3 or more publications in medical physics

Responsibilities

• Audits and reviews patient medical charts.
• Performs quality assurance/control evaluations on radiation producing machines.
• Assists with special clinical research and development projects as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards.
• Advises and provides guidance to dosimetry and therapy staff and provides consultation services to attending physicians.
• Assists with the delivery of patient care for special procedures.
• Supervises and provides training to departmental staff in the application of physics.
• Other duties as assigned or requested.
