About The Position

Broadstep Behavioral Health is seeking a Mental Health Youth Patient Transporter to join our team at our Venice Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) in Simpsonville, SC. In this role, you'll do much more than drive. You'll help ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of children and adolescents as you transport them to medical appointments, behavioral health services, educational activities, court proceedings, community activities, and other approved destinations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys driving but also wants work with a greater purpose. You'll become part of a behavioral health team dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment for young people receiving residential treatment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to safely operate assigned facility vehicles.
  • Dependable, responsible, patient, and safety-focused.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks, drug screening, health screening, and organizational training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or other vulnerable populations is preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, healthcare, education, child welfare, juvenile services, or human services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport youth to and from scheduled appointments and approved locations.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and support throughout transportation.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with the youth in our care.
  • Use trauma-informed communication and approved de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Follow individualized safety and supervision instructions for each resident.
  • Complete required transportation logs and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks.
  • Maintain facility vehicles in a clean, safe, and secure condition.
  • Communicate promptly with nursing and facility leadership regarding behavioral, medical, or safety concerns.
  • Support resident supervision and facility operations when not actively transporting residents.
