As our Care Assistant-Health Unit Coordinator, you will be a vital caregiver and the central hub, assuming responsibility for patient care processes from newborn to geriatric for a designated time frame. You will directly contribute to safe, therapeutic patient care while serving as the primary receptionist and secretary. Every day you will support safe patient care through multidisciplinary processes and coordinating unit activities. You will efficiently manage information flow and assist healthcare team members in delivering care across all patient age groups. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive approach to managing day-to-day operations, and a commitment to providing safe, therapeutic care while working effectively with the entire healthcare team. This job is responsible for assisting with patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse; performs data entry, unit secretarial functions, and equipment processing.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program, upon hire or Military medical specialty training, upon hire
  • Certified Nursing Assistant: WA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, through the American Heart Association, upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Six months related work experience
  • Experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience in a specialty unit.
  • Preference is given to applicants with experience as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Unit Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Provides essential personal care such as feeding, bathing, and ambulation, ensuring patient comfort and hygiene. This includes assisting with physical movements, skin care, and elimination needs.
  • Performs and monitors clinical activities within scope of practice, observing and reporting patient condition changes to the RN. This includes preparing for procedures, collecting specimens, and documenting relevant patient data.
  • Supports nursing staff with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring patient belongings are managed and they are oriented to their environment. This involves transporting patients and providing comfort items.
  • Checks, cleans, and disinfects non-critical medical equipment according to standards, and actively manages supplies. This also involves reporting equipment issues and initiating repair requests to maintain operational readiness.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including stocking supplies and conducting regular environmental rounds. Adheres strictly to hospital safety protocols, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
  • Efficiently performs tasks during emergencies and participates in disaster preparedness drills. Demonstrates awareness of patient safety goals, uses proper patient identification, and reports risk-sensitive issues to the RN.
