About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for a full-time role at their Plano East location within the Medical Oncology department. This position offers a standard Monday-Friday schedule from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The level of the position (1, 2, or Sr) will be determined by the candidate's experience. Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • Physician Assistant: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care in collaboration with practice physicians.
  • Impact quality of patient care and patient outcomes throughout the care continuum.
  • Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients.
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions; evaluate and record patient/family response and prescribe therapies as indicated.
  • Perform procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
  • Promote wellness and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporate developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Develop knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Complete patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote/provide staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
