About The Position

Join a supportive and growing Medical Oncology Advanced Practice team supporting the Mass General Cancer Center across our Boston academic medical centers and network locations. Our team provides comprehensive care for patients with both hematologic malignancies and solid tumor cancers, combining evidence-based medicine, clinical innovation, and compassionate care. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is passionate about oncology and thrives in a collaborative academic environment. Working closely with attending oncologists and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will manage a consistent panel of patients while partnering with the broader oncology team to ensure seamless, high-quality care throughout treatment and survivorship.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure and certification consistent with state and institutional requirements.
  • Master's Degree Nursing or Physician Assistant required

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of advanced practice experience.
  • Medical oncology experience.
  • Prior oncology RN experience (for NP candidates).
  • Proficiency with Epic and other electronic medical record systems.
  • Experience managing Epic In-Basket workflows and telemedicine visits.
  • Familiarity with clinical trials and research protocols.
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner 0-1 year preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including histories and physical examinations.
  • Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, review laboratory, pathology, and radiology results, and communicate findings to patients.
  • Manage oncology patients receiving local and systemic therapies.
  • Monitor treatment response, address complex symptom management needs, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and supportive care needs.
  • Write orders and manage therapies in accordance with current clinical guidelines and institutional standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Support access to care through effective coordination of appointments, testing, and follow-up services.
  • Participate in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice efforts.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and educator for staff, patients, and families.
  • Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions in accordance with organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
