About The Position
The Medical Oncologist will provide clinical coverage at a hospital-based Oncology/Hematology clinic in Redding, California. The role includes outpatient chemotherapy and infusions, diagnosis and management of hematology/oncology patients across all tumor types, clinic and infusion-center oversight, hospital consultations, and admissions as needed. Coverage includes weekday clinic hours and remote call, with night and weekend call participation. The position is locum tenens, and travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.
Requirements
- Board certified or board eligible in Oncology or Hematology.
- Active California license.
- Active DEA certification.
- Completion of a Hematology/Oncology fellowship.
- ACLS certification if moderate sedation privileges are required.
- PALS certification if pediatric patients are seen.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient chemotherapy and infusions in the Oncology/Hematology clinic.
- Diagnose, stage, and manage Hematology/Oncology patients, including precision medicine.
- Provide physician oversight for the clinic and infusion center.
- Perform hospital consultations and manage patient admissions as needed.
- Participate in the call schedule, including night call and weekend remote call.
- Perform required procedures including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions, hormone therapy, antibiotic therapy, rheumatoid arthritis injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies.
