Family Health West is hiring Medical Office Specialists for Clinics at Primary Care and Physician Services. This role involves communicating the scheduling and patient process, collecting and documenting patient demographics, verifying insurance eligibility, and collecting appropriate copays. The specialist will receive and post all payments, provide efficiencies in scheduling and managing patients, and assemble patient forms. They will maintain a strong organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures for the medical practice, demonstrating knowledge of medical practice principles. Responsibilities include processing incoming and outgoing calls, documenting phone messages in EHR, alerting supervisors to insurance issues, and promoting Family Health West programs. The role also involves scanning documents into patient charts, direct patient contact for intake registration, escorting patients, and assisting physicians. Fiscal responsibility, reliable attendance, and strong communication skills are essential. The specialist will follow up on patient referrals, call for authorization for Worker’s Compensation patients, submit for authorization of treatment/procedures, and prepare/send referrals to outside providers. They will also request and scan documentation from outside providers, access records from QHN and paper versions, and participate in staff meetings. Maintaining knowledge of programs like Patient Portal, EMR, QHN, and Gmail is required, as is training new hires and complying with competency audits and trainings. Other job-related duties as assigned.
