Family Health West is hiring Medical Office Specialists for Endocrinology. This role involves communicating the scheduling and patient process, collecting and documenting patient demographics, verifying insurance eligibility, and collecting copays. The specialist will receive and post payments, ensure efficiency in scheduling and managing patients, and assemble patient forms. Maintaining a strong organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures for the medical practice is crucial. The role requires knowledge of medical practice principles, practices, and procedures, and efficient handling of incoming and outgoing calls. Documenting phone messages in the EHR, alerting supervisors to insurance issues, and promoting Family Health West programs are also key responsibilities. The specialist will perform scanning into patient charts, provide direct patient contact for intake registration, escort patients, and assist physicians. Demonstrating fiscal responsibility and maintaining reliable and punctual attendance are essential. The role involves communicating necessary information, supporting projects, and demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills. Following up on patient referrals, calling for authorization for Worker’s Compensation patients, submitting treatment/procedure authorizations to insurance companies, and preparing/sending referrals to outside providers are required. Requesting and scanning documentation from outside providers into the Medical EMR, accessing records from QHN and paper versions, and participating in staff meetings are also part of the job. Maintaining knowledge of programs like Patient Portal, EMR, QHN, and Gmail, training new hires, and complying with competency audits and trainings are expected. Other job-related duties as assigned.
