About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Office Coordinator for the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. This role involves handling patient and provider requests, providing support in areas such as scheduling, registration, and care coordination, and making independent decisions regarding work priorities. The coordinator will also support medical matters on behalf of physicians, process activities in EPIC, and respond to patient inquiries. Additionally, the role requires supporting clinic activities remotely if JHU closes and providing coverage for the division's front desk and telephone lines, as well as back-up support for absences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Two years administrative experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Knowledge of general medical terminology required.
  • Additional education may substitute for one year of experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Responsibilities

  • Professionally and efficiently handle incoming requests from patients and providers, and ensure that issues are resolved both promptly and thoroughly.
  • Provide quality service and support in a variety of areas which may include, but not limited to scheduling, registration and care coordination.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Makes decisions and establishes work priorities as needed.
  • Responsible for completing regular tasks without repeated instructions.
  • Provide support for medical matters on behalf of physicians.
  • Other activity processed in EPIC, including but not limited to coordinating clinic follow-up of high importance activities.
  • Respond to ad hoc patient inquiries and requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner, including communicating relevant information to and from the physician.
  • Prepare to support clinic activities from home in case of JHU closure.
  • Provide coverage to the Division front desk and telephone lines as needed or assigned.
  • Provide back-up support coverage for lunches, illness, and other time-off requests as needed or assigned.
