Requirements

  • Must demonstrate interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required in order to serve a diverse customer base.
  • knowledge of how to assist patients in a timely manner with concerns and/or complaints.
  • Be proficient in the following, but not limited to: patient registration, appointments, scheduling, arrival appointments, EMR phone notes, indexing documents within EMR, telephone etiquette.
  • A working knowledge of computers.
  • Must operate standard office machines and equipment such as photocopiers, PC, fax, scanner, general office and communications equipment.
  • Basic problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge regarding medical terminology, insurance, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer, handle, phone calls in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Utilize appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • Using general scheduling guidelines appropriately schedule patient appointments selecting appropriate visit type/length of visit.
  • May be required to schedule meetings for physicians.
  • Greets patient promptly upon arrival to practice.
  • Accurately collects and documents time-of-service payments.
  • Verifies/collects: demographics, emergency contact information, and insurance information.
  • Correctly registers patients in system, including registration paperwork.
  • Accurately enters information into EMR.
  • Uses EMR for prescriptions, phone notes, referrals, outreach, check-out, etc.
  • May require managing reporting, surgical scheduling, managing authorizations and referrals, maintaining adequate supply inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel to other practices as required by practice leadership.
