About The Position

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) will provide excellent patient and physician customer service. Responsibilities will include greeting patients and visitors, verifying patient information in the NextGen system, collecting co-payments, and performing automated appointment scheduling. The MOA will also maintain patients’ medical charts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent Required
  • 1 -2 years of work experience in a medical office setting Required
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Excellent telephone etiquette

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using medical billing system Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Effectively checks in patients by: greet, Arrive, verifying benefit coverage, verify and entering referral, verify and update FSC and demographic information, collect and post co-pay and self-pay balance, generate lab/procedure orders, pharmacy provider, obtain complete medical history and HIPAA forms.
  • Effectively schedules patients from bump list and reminder.
  • Accurately creates and maintains charts in paper and electronic formats. Effectively scans and indexes electronic records.
  • Accurately completes charge entry process and can effectively resolve registration and charge entry edits.
  • Accurately completes Payment posting process using NextGen PM system
  • Accurately generates no-show and missed appointment letters, dictation; sorts and distributes mail and faxes; sources translation services
  • Meets patient and physician expectations
  • Effectively checks out patients by scheduling return appointments, and procedures, collecting and post co-pay and self-pay balances, coding accurately, and complete encounter forms.
  • Answers, screens & directs incoming calls, and answers basic patient-related questions and/ or problems.
  • Complies with the letter and spirit of Billing and HIPAA regulations
