About The Position
Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) is seeking a permanent full-time Medical Microbiologist. Consideration will be given to physicians with dual-training in Infectious Diseases-Medical Microbiology, or those with an FRCPC or equivalent in Medical Microbiology. CBRH is the second largest hospital in Nova Scotia, offering most sub-specialized services. Significant redevelopment is ongoing, expected to be complete by 2028. This role will support the current Infectious Diseases inpatient consult service, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), Antimicrobial Stewardship (AS), and provide Medical Microbiology leadership for the Eastern Zone of Nova Scotia.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- FRCPC or equivalent specialty training in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology or in Medical Microbiology
Responsibilities
- Delivery of inpatient and outpatient Infectious Diseases consultations
- Collaboration with both the Eastern Zone Infectious Diseases service and the Central Zone Division of Infectious Diseases in service delivery
- Medical oversight of Microbiology services for Eastern Zone.
