As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT) at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting, including setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
  • Experience using a microscope to review slides, identify the various elements of a sample, and release results.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance, calibration, and quality control (QC) procedures on automated clinical diagnostic analyzers to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of working in a lab, including standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus).

Nice To Haves

  • A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a science-related field is preferred.
  • Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience and education would be a plus.
  • ASCP-licensed MLT/MT/CLS credentials would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • Performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples.
  • Setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Specializing in one or more of the following areas: Hematology (Testing cell-related components of blood samples), Chemistry / Endocrinology (Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes), Urinalysis (Analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples), Cytology (Processing blood and body fluids for microscopic examination), Immunology / Serology (Testing blood and other samples for the presence of viral and bacterial disease).
