About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist, Microbiology for a temporary full-time position. Since opening in 2015 as North America’s first fully digital hospital, Humber River Health has been dedicated to transforming healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. Serving a diverse community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto, the hospital emphasizes equity, inclusivity, and active participation in the North West Toronto Ontario Health Team. Their Laboratory Services Department utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to collect and test clinical specimens, providing crucial information for patient diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Medical Laboratory Technologists play a vital role in assisting physicians by performing tests on various bodily fluids. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team focused on high reliability care and innovation in healthcare.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Current registration as General Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge & skills in Clinical Microbiology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively alone or with all team members, including co-workers, physicians and other health care team members.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of recent Clinical Microbiology experience is preferred
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset. Humber River Health values lived and learned experiences in addressing systemic barriers and advancing inclusive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Routine & Stat Laboratory Testing in Microbiology
  • Can be assigned and/or trained in other Laboratory Disciplines and other related duties, including but not limited to Pathology
