This position performs routine and specialized procedures, reviews and approves clinical test results for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients in accordance with established protocols for a laboratory performing high complexity procedures as defined by the standards of the Clinical laboratory Improvement Act of 1988. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital. The role involves specimen processing, microscopy procedures, performing tests for infectious agents and antimicrobial susceptibility, and operating/maintaining laboratory equipment. It also includes troubleshooting technical and administrative problems, participating in quality assurance programs, and interacting with healthcare professionals regarding patient care. The technician will work with infectious and hazardous substances and must follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, and reporting. They are responsible for documenting corrective actions and ensuring test systems are functioning properly before reporting results. Additionally, this role assists in training and competency evaluation of other personnel, evaluating test methodology, and verifying test procedures. The position incorporates the goals and mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital into daily work, including proper inventory, maintenance, and storage of supplies and equipment.
