The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform, evaluate, and monitor laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated. This role involves monitoring workflow, making necessary adjustments to complete work in an appropriate timeframe, and evaluating results for clinical significance and validity. The technician will also perform and document calibration, maintenance, and quality control of instruments and equipment, taking corrective action when indicated. They will recognize indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction and make basic corrections or notify appropriate personnel. Additionally, the technician will collect specimens, provide technical assistance to support staff, assist in improving laboratory procedures, and perform specialty testing in various areas. This position provides direct support and timely, accurate laboratory results for critical care departments during high acuity patient events.
