About The Position

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) to support the Dorn VA Medical Center (Columbia VA Healthcare System) located at 6439 Garners Ferry Road Columbia, SC 29209. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, or related field
  • MLT certification required through: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Board certification not required beyond MLT certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a generalist MLT
  • Must be competent in all core lab areas (Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology, Urinalysis)
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency with clinical laboratory equipment and systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Must successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging
  • Must meet VA background check and PIV badge requirements (Low Risk/Tier 1)
  • Required to complete all VA-mandated trainings prior to system access
  • No sponsorship available

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Urinalysis, and Coagulation
  • Accurately process, analyze, and report lab results, including STAT and critical values
  • Perform quality control, calibration, and routine maintenance on laboratory instruments
  • Identify and troubleshoot instrument or testing issues and document corrective actions
  • Perform specimen processing and venipuncture as required, following lab policies
  • Ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling (two identifiers required)
  • Maintain specimen integrity and adhere to turnaround time standards
  • Notify providers of abnormal or critical results with documented read-back
  • Enter and verify results in VA laboratory systems (VISTA/LIS, CPRS, etc.)
  • Complete required documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Maintain accurate logs, quality records, and competency documentation
  • Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, and patient safety reporting
  • Comply with all VA, Joint Commission, CAP, and CDC infection control standards
  • Attend required laboratory staff meetings and trainings
  • Support quality management and performance improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate effectively with lab staff, supervisors, and clinicians
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service at all times
