About The Position

Optim Medical Center - Screven is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician at its Sylvania, Georgia location. The technician performs phlebotomy, prepares specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testing, and carries out technical laboratory functions under the supervision of a Medical Technologist. Duties may vary as needs arise.

Requirements

Associate degree or certificate from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program.
Current AMT or ASCP license/registry, or equivalent, required.
Two years of laboratory experience required; preferably in a clinical office laboratory.
Good analytical judgment and ability to work under pressure.
Manual dexterity and normal color vision.
Experience with integrated computer systems.

Responsibilities

Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testing.
Operate automated chemistry, hematology, immunology, and urinalysis instruments under the supervision of a Medical Technologist.
Perform manual tests in accordance with detailed instructions.
Verify quality control according to laboratory protocol and maintain accurate records.
Report test results following clinical protocols under supervision, and immediately alert physicians or nurses to critical and abnormal results.
Assist the Medical Technologist with maintaining instruments, equipment, and supply inventory.
Comply with quality assurance policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, and infection control.
Operate laboratory information system (LIS) and office electronic medical record (EMR) computer systems.
Perform other duties as needs arise.
