About The Position

Southcoast Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Massachusetts. Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Laboratory or designee, the technician performs routine laboratory analysis accurately and according to written procedures. The role includes preparing samples, drawing the correct specimen and volume, assigning accession numbers, verifying results, identifying critical or unexpected results, and notifying a supervisor or clinical specialist as appropriate. The technician also maintains a neat and orderly workstation. This is a 40-hour-per-week day-shift position, with schedules of 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., or 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The role includes an every-other-weekend and holiday rotation. Compensation is based on experience, with a stated pay range of $31.99–$41.51 per hour.

Requirements

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent certification, within one year of hire.
Be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or qualify for an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement after hire.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in multiple laboratory disciplines, including Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank.
