About The Position

This role involves performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. The position requires exhibiting problem-solving skills, participating in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, and specimen processing. For the Medical Laboratory Scientist role, additional responsibilities include interpreting and correlating test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge, and potentially participating in research, development, education, and technical consultation. Phlebotomy duties may also be required for both roles.

Requirements

Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician OR Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route (MLT).
Graduate of a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory science OR MLT (ASCP) certified with additional semester hours in clinical laboratory equivalents from an accredited school with 2 years of full time lab experience and certified as an MLS (ASCP) (MLS).
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification, is required within one year from the date of hire (MLT).
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), is required within one year from the date of hire (MLS).
Current license or provisional license through the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice within 45 days of hire or transfer (North Dakota Sites).

Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring.
Perform instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
Perform specimen processing.
Perform phlebotomy.
Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge (MLS only).
Exhibit problem-solving skills of a highly complex nature (MLS only).
Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation (MLS only).
