About The Position

Northwood Technical College seeks an instructor for the Medical Laboratory Technician program starting in the Fall 2026 semester. The Medical Laboratory Technician program is a 2-year program that prepares students to perform medical laboratory tests to aid the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This instructional position will be based at Northwood Technical College, at the newly designed and equipped Medical Laboratory Education Center in New Richmond, Wisconsin. A key component will be the development/implementation of Medical Laboratory Technician Courses. The position includes the potential to advance to the Program Director position, commensurate with degree and experience. The instructor will work directly with the Program Director to ensure technical program standards and student outcomes are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Candidates who do not currently possess a master’s degree in an approved discipline must earn one within 3 years of their appointment to the position.
  • ASCP-BOC Medical Laboratory Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • A minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of appointment
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in related content areas
  • Ability to obtain driver’s license and insurance coverage in accordance with college policy

  • Attainment of the master’s degree is required to assume Program Director responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in teaching courses using relevant medical laboratory technology & equipment.
  • Evaluate student achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of MLT program curriculum, policy, and procedures.
  • Model professional behaviors, ethics, and appearance.
  • Assess program outcomes.
  • Implement and maintain lab safety procedures.
  • In coordination with the MLT Program Director, use and maintain lab equipment (analyzers, microscopes, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.
