Inova Fairfax Hospital, Emergency Care Center is looking for a dedicated (generalist) Medical Laboratory Technician 2 to join the team. This is a PRN day shift working every other Sunday. Requirements

Associate’s degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Other acceptable forms of education will follow the guidelines of American Society for Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologists Board certification.
FORMS OF ACCEPTABLE EDU: Associate's degree or 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) in chemistry and 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) in biology with the ELIGIBILITY for ASCP Board certification
Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program.
Successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the last ten years.
Three years of full-time acceptable clinical experience for eligibility for Medical Lab Technician. Board certification ELIGIBILITY can be used as proof that this requirement is met
1 year of experience
Successful completion National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program., or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the 12 months can be used in lieu of 1 year of full time acceptable clinical experience.
Certified Medical Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician-Upon start.

Responsibilities

Ensures quality specimens for Laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
Communicates effectively and work cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
Demonstrating a knowledge of operational/regulatory standards.
Operates systems/methodologies in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control and proficiency testing.
Participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team and departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
