This is a wage position, only paid for hours worked. Note: Must be a current DBHDS employee to apply to this position. Provide laboratory analysis to clinicians, perform phlebotomy and EKG testing. Assumes the duties of classified Health Care I or II employees to cover absences from the department. Performs patient testing and LIS functions: Chemistry, Hematology, Hemostasis, Serology and Urinalysis sections performing analysis on both patient and control specimens in addition to performing urinalysis testing daily. Receives processes, analyzes and reports results of patient specimens according to SOP. Performs quality control daily and ensures values are acceptable by performing and documenting corrective action before releasing patient results. Initiates appropriate critical value verification testing and MD notification per SOP when results exceed established limits using the read-back SOP to ensure patient safety.
