About The Position

Sentara Careplex Hospital is hiring an experienced Sr. Laboratory Scientist to work full days (0600-1430) in Transfusion. This role involves performing laboratory testing and interpreting results using scientific knowledge and principles. The scientist will recommend contingency testing and be directly responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing daily technical operations, including staff training, instrumentation implementation, and accreditation readiness. Requirements

Bachelor’s in medical technology or Biology/Chemical Science
ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification
3 years of laboratory experience
Transfusion experience

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing and interpret test results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes.
Recommend contingency testing.
Develop, maintain, and manage daily technical operations.
Oversee staff training and education.
Implement instrumentation.
Ensure accreditation readiness.
