About The Position

Baptist Health, recognized as a top place to work in healthcare, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical Lab Scientist to join their team at Baptist Medical Center Clay. This is a PRN (as needed) opportunity with flexible scheduling across day, evening, and weekend shifts. The Medical Lab Scientist will work with a small team, have the opportunity to rotate through different lab areas, and will be supervised by the Director and Section Supervisors, though capable of performing duties without on-site supervision. The role involves maintaining expertise and performing various laboratory functions, including technical procedures, specimen collection and processing, LIS operations, and general department tasks. The candidate may also supervise MLTs and serve as Charge Technologist in the absence of other supervisors. Instruction of new employees and students may also be a responsibility.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid Medical Technologist - Generalist license in the State of Florida before hire.
• At least one year of working experience as a Medical Technologist.
• 3-5 Years of Clinical Laboratory Experience
• Less than 1 year of Medical Technologist Experience
• Associate's Degree Required
• Licensed Medical Technologist Required
• Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technician Required

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• Certified Medical Technologist (MT) Preferred
• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Preferred
• Candidates licensed prior to 1997 are not required to have certification per the State of Florida Licensure Rules.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining expertise and performing technical, specimen collection/processing, LIS, general department, and clerical functions in laboratory areas where applicable.
• Maintaining records of performance as defined in the SOP manuals.
• Supervising MLTs as General Supervisor and serving as Charge Technologist in the absence of other lab supervisors or MTs.
• May instruct new employees and students.
