About The Position

The position is responsible for professional Medical Laboratory Scientist bench duties within the laboratory, for the assigned section(s). The position performs routine and complex tests or analyses in any of these potential sections (as assigned): Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Toxicology, Microbiology, Molecular, Mycology, Immunohematology, LIS and Lean. The position has responsibility for planning, performing and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited college/university that included clinical rotation or Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science AND completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program or Bachelor's Degree with completion of 60 semester/90 quarter hours from an accredited college/university that includes a minimum of 6 semester/9 quarter hours of chemistry, 6 semester/9 quarter hours of biology, and 12 semester/18 quarter hours of other chemistry, biology, and/or medical laboratory science courses AND at least three months full time clinical experience in all laboratory areas
  • National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists or National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Medical Technologist (upon hire)
  • 1 year experience in a clinical laboratory performing moderate and high complexity testing

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and complex tests or analyses in Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Toxicology, Microbiology, Molecular, Mycology, Immunohematology, LIS and Lean.
  • Plans, performs, and evaluates laboratory testing analysis.
  • Establishes and/or maintains communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations.
