About The Position

NCSH offers surgical specialties in orthopedics, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat, sports medicine, oral, plastic, podiatry, general surgery, interventional radiology, pain management, reconstructive surgery, and more. We are seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and procedures for disease diagnosis and treatment. This role involves utilizing laboratory equipment, instruments, and computer systems, evaluating and reporting patient results with independent judgment, performing quality control, and contributing to laboratory maintenance. The scientist may also assist in developing new procedures, take responsibility for laboratory projects (e.g., performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, computer systems), and train new employees and students. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 Years of clinical laboratory experience in a moderate and/or high complexity testing environment.
  • ASCP or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Blood Bank experience preferred.
  • Meditech Lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
  • Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems.
  • Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods.
  • Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation.
  • May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and computer systems.
  • Trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
