About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will evaluate and solve problems related to the collection and/or processing of specimens, maintaining specimen integrity throughout the testing process. This role facilitates the workflow process, checks the outstanding tests list in a timely manner, and troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding tests that appear to have not been collected or received when expected. The MLS will know and use computer downtime procedures as needed when the computer is not available and will help other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred
Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program required
Licensed MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist within 6 months required or MLS(ASCP) Medical Lab Scientist within 6 months required or other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology Upon Hire required or M(ASCP) - Microbiology if working in Microbiology Upon Hire required or BB (ASCP) - Blood Banking if working in Blood Bank Upon Hire required

Nice To Haves

2 years in a Medical Laboratory preferred
One year hospital experience preferred
