About The Position

Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, VA is hiring an experienced Sr. Laboratory Scientist to work full days for the Clinical Lab in Microbiology Setup and Urinalysis. This role involves performing laboratory testing, interpreting results using scientific knowledge, and recommending contingency testing. The position is directly responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing daily technical operations, including staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and accreditation readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in medical technology or Biology/Chemical Science
• ASCP or AMT certification
• 3 years of experience
• Microbiology experience

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and interpret test results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes.
• Recommend contingency testing.
• Develop, maintain, and manage daily technical operations.
• Oversee staff training and education.
• Implement instrumentation.
• Ensure accreditation readiness.
