About The Position

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required (for Medical Laboratory Scientist)
  • Associates degree in Laboratory Science required (for Medical Lab Technician)
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible (for Medical Laboratory Scientist)
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable (for Medical Laboratory Scientist)
  • Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice
  • Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible (for Medical Lab Technician)
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice (for Medical Lab Technician)
