About The Position

This role involves performing and reporting on laboratory tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages. These tests assist in the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. The position requires problem-solving skills, participation in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, and specimen processing. Depending on the specific role (MLT or MLS), additional duties may include phlebotomy, interpreting test results with disease states, research, development, education, and technical consultation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician OR Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route (for MLT).
  • Graduate of a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory science OR MLT (ASCP) certified with additional semester hours in clinical laboratory equivalents from an accredited school with 2 years of full time lab experience and certified as an MLS (ASCP) (for MLS).
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification, is required within one year from the date of hire (for MLT).
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), is required within one year from the date of hire (for MLS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages.
  • Assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
  • Exhibit problem-solving skills of a complex or highly complex nature.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring.
  • Perform instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform specimen processing.
  • Perform phlebotomy (may be required).
  • Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge (MLS).
  • Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation (MLS).
  • Provide customer service.
