About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician performs a wide range of laboratory tests used to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. This generalist role supports multiple disciplines and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely results while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field
- Certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) within 12 months of hire
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care
- Three months of documented, full-time experience in blood banking and microbiology (Required)
- Associate’s degree or higher in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science program and/or a Bachelor’s degree or higher in another related science (chemistry, hematology, biology, immunology, etc.)
- Must be registered in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, AMT or equivalent) within 12 months of hire.

- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
Nice To Haves
- Blood bank and microbiology experience
- Experience in chemistry and hematology
- Prior clinical laboratory experience
- Three months of documented, full-time experience in chemistry and hematology (Preferred)
- At least one year of previous clinical laboratory experience (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing across core areas including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and blood bank
- Collect and process specimens, including routine phlebotomy
- Analyze, validate, and report results accurately and within turnaround time standards
- Communicate critical results and testing updates to providers and care teams
- Perform quality control, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Ensure compliance with all safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements
- Support workflow adjustments based on STAT testing and volume changes
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training
- Mentor or support training of new staff as needed
