About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician performs a wide range of laboratory tests used to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. This generalist role supports multiple disciplines and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely results while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field
  • Certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent) within 12 months of hire
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Commitment to patient-centered care
  • Three months of documented, full-time experience in blood banking and microbiology (Required)
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science program and/or a Bachelor’s degree or higher in another related science (chemistry, hematology, biology, immunology, etc.)
  • Must be registered in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, AMT or equivalent) within 12 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Blood bank and microbiology experience
  • Experience in chemistry and hematology
  • Prior clinical laboratory experience
  • Three months of documented, full-time experience in chemistry and hematology (Preferred)
  • At least one year of previous clinical laboratory experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing across core areas including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and blood bank
  • Collect and process specimens, including routine phlebotomy
  • Analyze, validate, and report results accurately and within turnaround time standards
  • Communicate critical results and testing updates to providers and care teams
  • Perform quality control, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements
  • Support workflow adjustments based on STAT testing and volume changes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training
  • Mentor or support training of new staff as needed
