About The Position

The Clinical Lab Professional 2 will provide primary support to the James Stat Laboratory, and secondary support to ancillary James laboratory locations as needed. The James Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The James Laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and assists with bone marrow procedures. The James Laboratory provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The James laboratory is staffed 24 hours 7 days a week. The medical laboratory technologists’ performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results. Handles phone inquires regarding patient results, specimen collection and testing frequency. Oncology staff uses the laboratory computer system to review report and call critical values to various healthcare professionals. The James Laboratory staff performs and documents quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance on instrumentation. Medical laboratory technologists work under the direction of the lab manager and lead technologist(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution OR Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology AND Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science.
  • Must obtain MT/MLS(ASCP) certification within one year from the date of hire.

Responsibilities
