About The Position

Performs tests on blood and body fluids to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease. Works independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Technologist Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations. May be assigned to work in a specialized section within the department. All technologists must meet the CLIA ’88 requirements for the complexity level of work performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and ASCP (or equivalent) certification in one or more specialty areas of the laboratory.
  • Or, Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and completion of an AMA approved laboratory training program and eligible for ASCP certification.
  • Or, completion of an approved government training program and eligible for ASCP certification.
  • Verbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel.
  • Writing skills and computer aptitude required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Must be available to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays.
  • Meet the CLIA ’88 requirements for the complexity level of work performed.
