About The Position

Under general supervision, conducts analyses on a variety of sample types. Maintains accurate records and exercises independent judgment to produce reliable test results. Ensures quality, efficiency, and safety in all laboratory operations. Functions as a fully engaged and collaborative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences required or; an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, or completion of Military Laboratory Technology with a minimum of three years of experience.
  • No experience required with a Bachelor’s degree, or three years of experience in a clinical laboratory with an Associate’s degree or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program required.
  • ASCP or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing independently using both manual and automated methods.
  • Adheres to and actively participates in compliance with all relevant regulatory agency guidelines (CLIA 88, TJC, CAP, FDA, etc.) and addresses any issues as required.
  • Identifies and resolves analytical problems autonomously, troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, and implements corrective actions when evaluating testing procedures, patient results, and specimen integrity; seeks guidance when necessary.
  • Reviews and documents quality control measures independently, determining the acceptability of testing, patient results, and instrument performance by applying QA/QC principles on a daily basis.
  • Addresses clinical and customer concerns promptly and confidentially, resolving issues with professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
  • Contributes to the development and revision of laboratory procedures and assumes additional responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves operational problems independently, documenting all corrective actions taken.
  • Participates in and may lead mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with the job description.
