This position performs test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring independent judgment and responsibility in specialties for which the individual is qualified by education, training, and experience. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for troubleshooting instruments and procedures, supporting quality control, customer service, instrument maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects. They perform and report analytical tests, ensure quality control, maintain specimen handling and processing standards, adhere to analytical schedules for timely results, manage reagent and test kit information, document QC analysis, make QC decisions, report issues to supervisory personnel, enter test results into the Laboratory Information System, maintain laboratory areas, complete training, and may assist with training other personnel. The role adheres to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment and engineering controls. They may answer client questions, participate in inspections, and assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor. This is a general description of duties.
