Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for their Lewisville, TX location. This evening shift position (Sunday - Thursday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) is in the Clinical Laboratory - Clinical Toxicology department. The role involves working with state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation and contributing to a Fortune 500 company that leads in providing diagnostic information services. The company offers a range of benefits and training opportunities, with pay starting at $29.50+ per hour. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates, and a shift differential may apply for evening or night shifts. Salary offers are determined by various factors including skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market conditions. Successful candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses.
Requirements
- BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493
- Bachelor's degree required, degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry strongly preferred
- Transcripts will be requested for review throughout consideration process
- 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
- LCMS/ICPMS/GCMS experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
- Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
