Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Clinical Toxicology
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Clinical Toxicology department in Lewisville, Texas. The position performs high-complexity clinical toxicology testing and related laboratory work, including specimen processing, test analysis, result review and release, and record maintenance. The role follows laboratory procedures and applicable CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines, and addresses or escalates issues that could affect test performance or reporting. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Pay starts at $29.50 per hour. The employee may be eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Quest Diagnostics offers benefits and training, with benefit eligibility depending in part on whether the position is part-time or full-time.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing in Clinical Toxicology.
- A BS in Medical Technology; or a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
