About The Position

The ChristianaCare Molecular Medical Laboratory located on the Newark campus, is currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Scientist with experience in Molecular Diagnostics to perform genetic testing and associated activities to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This is a day shift position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm. Weekend and holiday work is required.

Requirements

• BS in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science required or BS in Biology or Biochemistry with 1-2 years of Experience with Molecular techniques such as PCR or sequencing required.
• MS preferred.
• ASCP eligible or equivalent
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures
• Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures
• Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy
• Skill in the use of automated laboratory equipment

Responsibilities

• Performs all test procedures accurately as listed in the Molecular Diagnostic procedure manual.
• Verifies specimen identification, processes order, adheres to established turnaround times, documents call, and verifies critical values.
• Follows established quality control procedures, documenting corrective action as necessary.
• Performs and records all scheduled instrument preventive maintenance procedures.
• Performs basic troubleshooting and calls appropriate hotlines, and documents.
• Follows all CCHS and laboratory safety policies.
• Reviews laboratory safety manual annually.
• Cooperates with supervisors and co-workers and maintains a good rapport with other departments.
• Presents a professional, well-groomed appearance always.
• Answers the telephone courteously and promptly.
