About The Position

This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Medical Laboratory Scientists I in the HLA laboratory perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology.
• ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.
• Keep all instrumentation in good working order.
• Identify and notify the supervisor or lead tech of instrument malfunctions.
• Aid in instrument repair.
• Identify abnormal or discrepant results.
• Limited participation in student teaching and assisting of other personnel rotating through the section.
• Limited administrative duties.
